Dermaplaning

BABY SOFT SKIN COURTESY OF SKINSPACEUK’s DERMAPLANING

We think we may have finally found the answer to perfect looking skin! Dermaplaning is a simple and effective exfoliation method, using a surgical scalpel to gently scrape off the top layer of dull skin cells, revealing a smoother, brighter complexion. As a result of removing these surface cells and unclogging your pores, you’ll soon notice that your skincare products are able to penetrate the skin more effectively and that acne outbreaks are greatly reduced.

SkinSpaceUK’s dermaplaning treatment is also a dermatologist-backed solution for dealing with soft facial hair, known as peach fuzz. It’s the method that many leading models and actors use to achieve a flawless canvas. But even if your starring role is more Zoom call than cinematic, this phenomenal treatment will have your skin ready for extreme close ups in no time.

SkinSpaceUK’S Dermaplaning Treatment – How Does it Work?

Your SkinSpaceUK clinician will start the treatment by cleansing and thoroughly drying the treatment area. Your skin will be pulled taut with one hand and using a sterile blade your practitioner will use short, swift strokes to scrape off dead skin cells and peach fuzz. In no time at all, you will be left with an extremely smooth skin surface.

Dermaplaning works for most skin types and is a great option for those pregnant or nursing, wanting exfoliation without the risk of harsh chemicals absorbing into the bloodstream.

Following the treatment, your SkinSpaceUK will advise on the best skincare regime, tailored to protect the skin and boost your results. There are virtually no side effects and zero downtime, so you can leave our clinic and carry on with your day.

    TREATMENT FAQs

    Dermaplaning

    Does it Hurt?

Dermaplaning is a painless procedure, comparable to shaving any other area of your body. Can you feel it? Yes. Does it hurt? Absolutely not.

How Often Can I Repeat a Session?

Dermaplaning removes 21 days worth of dead skin cells, so it’s best to allow the skin to complete its 30-day rejuvenation cycle before your next treatment.

    How Long Does Treatment Take?

The procedure usually takes no longer than 30 minutes.

What Are the Possible Side Effects and Risks?

While cosmetic medicine is not without complications or unwanted side effects, we do take every precaution to minimise and limit any complications to offer a safe and comfortable service. Although rare, reported side effects can include but are not limited to the following: redness, dryness, blotches, discomfort and temporary skin changes.

How Can I Prepare for the Treatment?

Please arrive with the area to be treated clean and free of make-up. Skin must be intact and free of any open wounds or acne lesions.

Before each appointment, please advise us of any medical conditions or medications that you are taking including antibiotics or steroids. Certain medications can make your skin more sensitive and increase the risk of unwanted side effects.

Seven days before and after your treatment, please discontinue using hair removal cream, fake tan, bleaching products, strong emollients, aromatherapy products and perfumes in the treatment area. 48 hours prior to treatment, please discontinue any skin irritants (Retin-A, Retinols, Glycolic and Salicylic acids).

If you have a history of cold sores, antiviral medication may be used prior to treatment and continued for one week after.

Please note that this treatment is not advisable for clients who have an allergy to nickel.

    What Does the Aftercare Involve?

We highly recommend using sunscreen SPF30+ at all times.

After receiving your dermaplaning treatment, you should be able to commence your daily schedule as normal. Considered a ‘lunch-time facial’, you may return to work following your treatment.

Immediately after treatment, there may be some redness and the skin may feel slightly sensitive. Mineral make-up may be applied after treatment. Avoid picking or scratching the treated skin. You can resume your normal skin care regime 24 hours after treatment, with the exception of any skin irritants. Avoid
hot baths and heat treatments for the first 48 hours after treatment.
