Jaw Reduction

Anti-wrinkle injections for Jaw Reduction at SkinSpaceUK

Are you looking to reduce sagging jowls or soften a prominent or asymmetric jaw line? Then Anti-wrinkle injections are on hand to significantly improve the appearance of the jaw area.

Although its anti-wrinkle benefits might initially spring to mind when thinking of Anti-wrinkle injections, it’s also an excellent treatment for addressing jaw issues caused by enlarged muscles.

We use the muscles along the posterior jaw to chew food and clench the teeth. Over time, especially if we grind our teeth at night, the masseter muscle can expand, making the jaw appear wide and square. It can lead to pain, headaches, jaw pain, and general tension in the face and neck.

Help is at hand, as our SkinSpaceUK clinics can harness the power of Anti-wrinkle injections to reduce the size of the muscles injected, thereby smoothing the facial contour to offer a softer, slimmer jaw line.

Anti-wrinkle injections® for Jaw Reduction – How Does it Work?

You will first be offered an initial consultation with our SkinSpaceUK cosmetic nurse to assess your suitability for Anti-wrinkle injections for jaw reduction. At SkinSpaceUK, we pride ourselves on being able to offer our clients a personalised service.

Once the appropriate, bespoke dosage has been calculated, you can lie back as the SkinSpaceUK nurse administers a series of small injections into the jaw area. It’s a swift treatment, usually only lasting around 15 minutes, depending on the area being treated. Most clients are in and out of the clinic, without any downtime.

    Jaw Reduction

    Does it Hurt?

The treatment is not considered uncomfortable as the needles that SkinSpaceUK use are super fine, although some clients report a level of discomfort at the needlepoint. Following treatment, any discomfort is usually minimal and brief.

How Long Does the Treatment Last?

This varies from patient to patient but you can expect your anti-wrinkle jaw injections reduction to last up to six months, with this longevity increasing with regular treatments over time.

What Are the Possible Side Effects and Risks?

While cosmetic medicine is not without complications or unwanted side effects, we do take every precaution to minimise and limit any complications to offer a safe and comfortable service. Reported side effects include but are not limited to the following: redness in the treatment site (usually lasting two to three hours), discomfort, bruising, swelling, dull heavy sensation, occasional headache. Individual results can vary and are not guaranteed.

How Can I Prepare for the Treatment?

Do not take any muscle relaxant medications for three to five days prior to your appointment.

If you are prone to bruising we recommend taking Arnica tablets around four weeks before treatment.
Avoid any facial treatments one week before and after treatment.
Please arrive with the area to be treated clean and free of make-up.
Please advise us of any medications including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Having anti-wrinkle injections with certain other medicines may cause side effects.
Advise us about any muscle or nerve conditions, such as MND or Lou Gehrig’s Disease, Myasthenia Gravis, or Lambert-Eaton Syndrome, as you may be at increased risk of side effects including difficulty swallowing and difficulty breathing from typical doses of anti-wrinkle injections.

    What Does the Aftercare Involve?

Immediately after treatment, there may be small bumps, redness and swelling to the treated area. This is a normal reaction and usually settles in a few hours. During this time, we advise that you stay upright and don’t lie down.
If you experience a mild headache after treatment, please treat with Paracetamol. Do not take Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Nurofen or other anti-inflammatory medications, as this may increase bruising.
Strenuous exercise and rubbing or massaging the area should be avoided for 24 hours post treatment.

Heat can increase the chances of bruising at the injection site. You should avoid saunas, steam rooms hot tubs or tanning for four hours after having your treatment. It is also best to avoid strenuous aerobic exercise, or rubbing or massaging the treatment area for 24 hours.
