Pixel Perfect Laser Technology – How Does it Work?

The beauty of the Pixel Perfect laser treatment is that it works by encouraging the skin’s natural process of rejuvenation. During the treatment, the experienced SkinSpaceUK practitioner will use the handheld high-energy iPixel laser to create microscopic perforations to the surface of the skin. The laser light passes through patented optics to penetrate the skin with tiny thermal channels, only as deep as a few sheets of paper, vaporising damaged skin tissue one layer at a time.

This highly controlled, ablative resurfacing laser delivers energy in a fast and comfortable way, leaving the surrounding tissue intact. Following the treatment, your SkinSpaceUK specialist will advise on the best skincare regime, tailored to protect the skin and boost your results.

Around seven to ten days after your resurfacing procedure, your skin will have started to heal, revealing the regenerated, healthy skin cells beneath for an improved, smooth complexion.

    TREATMENT FAQs

    Pixel Perfect Laser Treatment

How Long Does a Treatment Last?

SkinSpaceUK will offer you a bespoke treatment plan, depending on factors such as the size of the area and the condition of the skin. A single treatment will often take less than 30 minutes. We work with each of our client’s unique requirements to determine how many sessions are needed to achieve optimum results for long lasting, great skin.

What Might My Skin Look Like After Treatment?

You should expect to experience some degree of redness and swelling immediately after the treatment. Depending on your skin type, a scab may form on the treated area.

    Does it Hurt?

In most cases, our clients feel a slight warming pressure or snapping as the laser touches the skin. Note that every client in our clinics has been able to complete the procedure easily. SkinSpaceUK are committed to making the experience as comfortable as possible for our clients and in some cases we will apply a topical anaesthesia 20 minutes prior to the start of the treatment to ease any potential discomfort.

What Are the Possible Side Effects and Risks?

While cosmetic medicine is not without complications or unwanted side effects, we do take every precaution to minimise and limit any complications to offer a safe and comfortable service. Reported side effects include but are not limited to the following: discomfort, burning, bruising, swelling, pigmentation, scarring, infection and blistering.

How Can I Prepare for the Treatment?

Please arrive with the area to be treated clean and free of make-up. Skin must be intact and free of any open wounds or acne lesions.

Before each appointment, please advise us of any medical conditions or medications that you are taking including antibiotics or steroids. Certain medications can make your skin more sensitive and increase the risk of unwanted side effects.

Seven days before and after your treatment, please discontinue using hair removal cream, fake tan, bleaching products, strong emollients, aromatherapy products and perfumes in the treatment area.

48 hours prior to treatment, avoid harsh cleansers, scrubs, scrubbing brushes, washcloths, Clarisonic devices, Retin-A, Retinols, acid peels (AHAs or BHAs) or Benzoyl Peroxide.

If you have a history of cold sores, antiviral medication may be used prior to treatment and continued for one week after.

    What Does the Aftercare Involve?

After your treatment, you should expect the area to be a little red and swollen for the first 24 - 48 hours. Three to four days after your treatment, your skin will begin the flake and peel. This may occur particularly during cleansing of the skin.

For facial pixel treatments, the area is usually healed after about five days or longer for deeper treatments. For pixel treatments elsewhere on the body, healing can take longer because the skin turns over more slowly and has less oil glands present.

It is important to keep your skin hydrated and safe from sun exposure. We recommend using the award-winning Obagi skincare range and an SPF30+ sunscreen at all times. You should also drink plenty of water to keep your skin well hydrated.
