Milia, Warts & Skin Tags

Achieve clearer skin with SkinSpaceUK’s trusted minor skin procedure for milia, warts and skin tags. Embarrassing they may be, but these skin issues are actually incredibly common.

Milia are small, white or yellow cysts that appear in clusters just under the surface of the skin. These pearly bumps are most commonly found on the face, with the lips, eyelids, nose and cheeks becoming hotspots, although some people also develop milia on their body.

Skin tags are growths connected to the skin by a stalk called a peduncle. They can vary in size from a few millimetres up to 5cms wide and are most commonly found on the eyelids, neck, armpits, groin and under the breasts. Skin tags are not contagious and generally don’t cause discomfort.

Warts are hard growths on the skin, while skin tags are growths connected to the skin by a stalk called a peduncle.

If you are concerned about a changing skin lesion, it is important to first get it assessed by a doctor or dermatologist prior to visiting our SkinSpaceUK clinics.

Once you have been given the all clear, our medical practitioner is on hand to help you to achieve blemish free skin using scalpel sculpting or diathermy removal methods.

Scalpel Sculpting for Milia, Warts and Skin Tags – How Does it Work?

Warts are hard growths on the skin, while skin tags are growths connected to the skin by a stalk called a peduncle. Milia are a common complaint, occurring when keratin becomes trapped beneath the surface of the skin. All of these skin issues are typically painless but inconvenient and can be removed easily for cosmetic or comfort reasons.

SkinSpaceUK makes light work of their removal, using a straightforward, minimally invasive procedure to eliminate these imperfections. The scalpel sculpting procedure is the method used for 95% of our clients. The treatment area is cleansed and a local or topical anaesthetic is applied to ensure the procedure is painless. There’s no deep cutting of the skin or stitches, thankfully. Instead, a scalpel delicately shaves the wart or skin tag off. The area is then cauterized to seal the wound and stop any bleeding, before a small waterproof plaster is applied.

The results of scalpel sculpting? Clearer, smoother, blemish-free skin.

Diathermy for Milia, Warts and Skin Tags – How Does it Work?

SkinSpaceUK’s Diathermy method involves using radio waves to remove or visibly reduce the appearance of small skin blemishes without the need for injections, incisions, down time or surgery. This can be particularly effective if, for example, you would like multiple tags treated in one session.

Milia, warts and skin tags are removed using a short wave electrolysis diathermy, with different needles used depending on the type of lesion being treated. It’s a quick and effective way of removing unwanted skin blemishes, minus the stitches.

    TREATMENT FAQs

SkinSpaceUK Milia, Warts & Skin Tag Removal

    How Long Does Treatment Take?

Treatment sessions are generally quite short. The entire procedure takes approximately 15-60 minutes depending on the size and number of lesions being removed. For example, one small skin tag will take significantly less time then a cluster of warts.

    How Long Does Treatment Last?

Our medical practitioners will use the latest techniques to make any scarring as faint as possible. Once treated your skin tag or cyst is unlikely to grow back, although there is no guarantee that the removal of any lesion will be successful in every case or a permanent solution.

    What Does the Aftercare Involve?

The wound will usually heal on its own within a few weeks, so the aftercare is just simple tending to the site in the recovery period. If you have a dressing, remove it after 24 hours, gently wash and dry the area, and apply an emollient such as Acriflex 0.25% as a protective barrier. Continue this routine until the area has healed, usually in one or two weeks.

If pain relief is required, Paracetamol is recommended rather than aspirin (which may increase bruising or bleeding at the wound). Shaving or make-up can be resumed in the area once any scabs have fallen off. Avoid intense heat such as saunas or extreme cold until any initial swelling has gone. Note that full healing can take several months.
