Tattoo Removal for men

WHY CHOOSE SKINSPACEUK FOR TATTOO REMOVAL?

At SkinSpaceUK, we understand that you may have outgrown your tattoo. Perhaps the artwork now disappoints, the relationship moved on, the ink faded or you just fancy a change; whatever the reason, you are not alone.

A recent survey found that 31.34% of males regretted getting a person’s name inked on them. However, if you find yourself in this camp there is good news! With recent advances in technology, long gone are the days of excruciating, invasive tattoo removal.

SkinSpaceUK can’t erase the past for our male clients, but we can make your old tattoo look far less noticeable, using state of the art laser technology to ensure that the ink particles are broken down, while your skin remains unharmed and healthy.

THE LASER TECHNOLOGY – HOW DOES IT WORK?

As leaders in the tattoo removal field, our certified technicians are professionally trained using high-powered Q-switched lasers, a revolutionary method of tattoo removal.

So what makes this method so effective? By using a photo acoustic light energy so intense it only needs to make contact with the skin for the briefest of time, ink particles are broken down without causing damage to the skin. Our technology uses lasers at varying wavelengths to effectively target a range of colours, including certain black inks that have traditionally been resistant to treatment.

To visualise this process, picture a sugar cube breaking apart into smaller granules. Using an ultra-rapid laser that pulsates at six billionths of a second, the tattoo pigment fragments into smaller, less visible pieces as it absorbs the light.

It’s a highly targeted approach that, thankfully, also involves a gentler healing process. Over time, your body’s natural recovery system (the lymphatic system) steps in to remove the ink fragments from your body, allowing your tattoo to fade with minimal risks of long-term scarring or skin discoloration.

Post treatment, SkinSpaceUK will assist the healing process with a post soothing cream and dressing application, plus an after-care advice session.

    TREATMENT FAQs

    Tattoo Removal

    Does it Hurt?

While many of our clients report no discomfort during the treatment, some experience a minor snapping sensation. SkinSpaceUK are committed to making the experience as comfortable as possible for our clients, assisting with topical anesthetic cream and ice packs if needed.

    How Long Will Sessions Take?

Treatment times vary due to the size of the tattoo(s) being removed but can range from between 10-60 minutes in length.

    How Many Treatments Are Needed?

The number of treatments required depends on the tattoo, the ink used, skin type and quality of tattoo. We recommend 6-12 treatments, spaced 8-12 weeks apart.

What Are the Possible Side Effects and Risks?

While cosmetic medicine is not without complications or unwanted side effects, we do take every precaution to minimise and limit any complications to offer a safe and comfortable service. Reported side effects include but are not limited to the following: discomfort, burning, bruising, swelling, pigmentation, scarring, infection, blistering, temporary or permanent skin changes. Individual results can vary and are not guaranteed.

How Can I Prepare for the Treatment?

Please discontinue using hair removal creams, fake tan, bleaching products, strong emollients, aromatherapy products or perfumes in the treatment areas for at least two weeks prior and after treatment, and avoid the sun during this period, using SPF30+ sunscreen at all times.

If you smoke, we also recommend that you stop for two weeks before and after the procedure as smoking can delay the healing process.

For one week prior and one week following treatment, avoid harsh cleansers, scrubs, scrubbing brushes, washcloths, Clarisonic, Retin-A, Retinols, Salicylic or Glycolic acids.

Please advise of any medical conditions or medication at least 48 hours in advance of the appointment and ensure that the area has been shaved 12 hours prior to your treatment.

    What Does the Aftercare Involve?

The recovery process will usually involve 24 hours of applying a cold compress to the area. For the next three days you will be supplied with dressings and can additionally apply Acriflex post treatment ointment, which can be purchased in the clinic. Avoid hot baths and heat treatments for the first few days after treatment.
There is the possibility of blistering, which is a natural part of the healing process but will not necessarily occur after every treatment. Shaving and sun exposure should be avoided in the treated area until it has completely healed.
We highly recommend using sunscreen SPF30+ at all times.
